COURSE DESCRIPTION: Study life sciences from the simplest to the most complex organism. Study the basics of life, genetics, microbiology, plant science, animal science, evolution,

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The study of the introductory concepts and the technology of modern chemistry. The course will include a laboratory component with emphasis on safety and measurement techniques.
 The course content will include properties of matter and structure, chemical formulas and equations (stoichiometry), solutions (acids & bases) and gas laws.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Class will cover the four basic areas of astronomy:  Planetary dynamics, Stellar dynamics, Galactic dynamics, and Cosmology.  The focus of the class will be to use simple principles of physics and chemistry to understand the formation and motion of celestial objects and the universe.  Labs will be conducted weekly using self-collected data or data from professional observatories and particle accelerators.  Students will have access to a wide range of modern scientific instruments.

HONORS ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE   30610

PREREQUISITES:  An "A" or "B" in Earth & Space Science and teacher approval  '

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Course will cover basic and advanced concepts of meteorology and climatology, including:  Weather Elements and Observations; Atmospheric Temperature, Moisture and Motion; Weather Analysis and Forecasting; Satellite and Radar Interpretation; Severe Storms; Climate Classification; Past, Present and Future Climates of the World; El Nino; Global Warming.  The focus of the class will be to use simple principles of physics and real-time observations to understand the complex interaction of the Earth's atmosphere with the lithosphere and biosphere.  Labs will be conducted regularly using data collected from Curie's Weather Net station and from individual student observations.  Students will learn the process of forecasting and interpreting a wide variety of weather and climatic data.
