Joy in a Room
Groggy eyes, lids pressed down by tiny invisible fairy hands.
Wanting one more second of blissful sleep.
Large fumbling hands, groping, wildly blindly to forever silence the cheap plastic dream invader.
With one last burst of effort, quick and direct I slap the snooze button hard, threatening to shatter it like Grandma's heirloom crystal on the linoleum kitchen floor.
The garbled voice of the radio's DJ vanishes.
Triumphantly I thrust my fists into the air above me..........
Ten more seconds of undisturbed sleep.
