Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. It is my pleasure to serve as principal of Curie High School again this year. I hope that your summer break was pleasant and safe. Now that the new school year is upon us, it is time to focus on the things that will help ensure your success in school. Let me start by saying how important your attendance in school is each and every day throughout the school year. It is impossible to benefit from all that Curie has to offer if you are not here. My goal is to provide you with the best educational experience possible so that you can graduate on time, be prepared for success in college, and enter into the competitive world of professional careers ready to excel. It takes your cooperation to accomplish this goal however. You must also apply yourself, conforming to the rules of this school even when you may not feel like it. This means paying attention to your teachers, participating in class, doing homework, studying even harder in those areas of weakness, and refraining from any activity associated with misconduct. In addition to doing challenging school work for a whole school year, I encourage you to get involve in a team sport, club, or some other positive after school activity. Involvement in extracurricular activities with help you become a well rounded individual, avoiding the pitfalls of disciplinary action. It will also help channel that extra energy into something meaningful and safe. Speaking of safety, I want you to commit to moving from one classroom to the next in an expeditious manner, not wasting time, and getting to every class before the second bell sounds. Lastly, when your last class or activity ends, leave the school and school grounds. Do not loiter in or around the school or at the train station. Your education and safety are my highest priorities. But your help is needed to achieve both. Feel free to bring any concern you may have to me or any staff member. Have a safe, rewarding, and educationally successful school year.
Sincerely,
Phillip C. Perry
